Yes it is. Remork Design Studio worked with Belgian Switch company Lithoss to come up with a series of unique switches for what normally is considered a trivial element in interior design. Ultimately they ended up with a frameless switch called the Piano. Clean, sober and simple. Hit the jump to see some of the other design projects.

That’s a Light Switch?
Drawing inspiration from Brasa, we have here an exceptionally slim and innovative rear light for cycles. The design optimizes the use of Light Line Technology (LLT), where the technique and optics clearly offset the single string of lights from the rest of the body, giving the impression that a red line is floating in the air. An easily accessible switch and simple battery removal, make it very practical and efficient light. As the designer explains, “The LLT uses one LED only and the extra-wide shape of its light guide allows a great visibility on both corners, offering more visibility and safety for the user and other road users

Light of Distinction
For the past year or so, I’ve been completely smitten by the trend of loose-fit covers for sofas and chairs but it’s mostly being done by expensive furniture companies in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Italy and I couldn’t seem to justify the expense. Lately, I’ve been trying to “save” my IKEA KARLSTAD sofa which is currently sitting lonely and sad in my storage room. I’ve been dying to make the time to actually make my own loose slip to cover it, but I never seem to make the time to actually do it plus it’s a big undertaking for someone who has never covered a sofa before – I’m guessing it would take me about 3 days of non-stop work and another week or two to source the fabric at an affordable price. While I love to make my own stuff when I can, I was thrilled to find out that Swedish company BEMZ , who ships all over the world, recently releases their own loose slips for IKEA furniture. I’m thrilled beyond words and plan to order one as soon as possible so my IKEA sofa can come out of storage and play with me again! This is my favorite one above… You can also find some that fit more snugly if you love cleaner lines… What do you think, do you like this look

I’m dreaming of a chandelier for my living room and Mud Studio has the one that I want though there is no way I can afford it so it will remain on my dream wish list for a very long time. I’ve become obsessed with Mud Studio, a fan for a few years now but even more now as their beaded chandelier continues to captivate me and my affection for it only grows stronger by the day… Here it is shown in the home of the founders of Mud Studio, Werner and Philippa du Toit, who live in South Africa along with other wares from Mud Studio that I’m dreaming of… Mud Studio is on one hand, earthly and natural and on the other, very chic I think. I wouldn’t mind having some of their dinnerware, it’s right up there on my Astier de Villatte wish list! Speaking of Africa, I’ll be in Amsterdam tomorrow (I know, sounds unrelated but I’ll get to that in a moment) for a few days with Debi Treloar as we will begin the first batch of shoots for my next interiors book to be published simultaneously by Chronicle Books (US) and Jacqui Small Publishing (UK). I’m very excited because my home will be in my next book, something I’ve been hoping for, but beyond that I can’t wait to share more of the homes I love with you and to give you more inspiration and ideas through my words and ideas

It’s always a pleasure to find beautiful places and things to point you to, and today I have a couple of great ones starting with EST magazine . I’ve talked about this gorgeous e-mag before but their current issue just went live a few hours ago and it is definitely work a peek. It’s so inspirational and packed with modern, well-edited rooms and in this issue, lots of Scandinavian shout outs. I love the trend report with shots of pink and the fashion spread with all of the happy Spring tones.

It sounds like a whiff of air for now, but imagine if we could have a wireless mouse that did not tank up on so many batteries every month?

Based on this, the designers have created a concept that uses its motion to self-power the mouse. It sounds like a whiff of air for now, but imagine if we could have a wireless mouse that did not tank up on so many batteries every month? Because I use it so much, I tend to replace my Magic Mouse battery every 7-8 days.
