Leaf Wireless Mouse scores big time on looks and has a decent enough direction as far as tech aspects go. The one thing that we do with our mouse the most is to move it around. Based on this, the designers have created a concept that uses its motion to self-power the mouse. It sounds like a whiff of air for now, but imagine if we could have a wireless mouse that did not tank up on so many batteries every month? Because I use it so much, I tend to replace my Magic Mouse battery every 7-8 days.

The Fayton, inspired by the natural (horse) and human (carriage) components of the phaeton horse-drawn buggy of the 19th century, is a project aimed at providing comfortable transportation with a minimal carbon footprint. The EV’s most noticeable features are its transparent body and large glass canopy that provides a 360 degree view outside. The sunroof is made of four glass pieces that, when open, fold back and resemble a horses mane. Rediscover the art of writing to your friends rather than typing on cold keyboards. Get it done with ‘Handwriting’, a digital tool fashioned as a pen that replicates this long forgotten art! Photoelectric sensors on the tip record your messages and transfer to your chat-friends via the Internet. Your friend’s chat appears on the side screen of the pen. Friends online and available for tête à tête are indicated via flashy lights and I think its kinda cool. Recorder is this magic pen that converts your written notes into electronic files and then transfers it to your phone and computer via Bluetooth. I think it’s a great idea and can actually encourage us writers to take to the book and pen more often. I bet authors and illustrators will love it too! My only wish – it auto spellchecks the files. As the name suggests Topless Shoes have no upper constrictions or bindings. It’s like sinking your foot into a warm cushy hole and expecting it to ‘walk’ with you at every step. The elastic layer called ‘muscle’ parts under the foot and encloses it in a firm yet comfortable grip. Ideal for folks who find wearing shoes a huge task, and I’d sure like to give them a try. Topless Shoes is a 2011 red dot concept design winner.

Almost all of our workouts are based on approximation. For example a 125-lb person burns approx. 360 calories per hour if they do a vigorous dumbbell workout session. To remove the veil of doubt and talk about hard facts and figures, we have here the C-Ring Dumbbells. The weights sync with your smartphone or PC via USB and tell you exactly how many calories you burnt during your session

SoundsGood is a hearing aid for women specifically designed to look like a classy earring. The device works in a very interesting way; depending upon the voice pitch of the speaker the earring displays graphic sound waves in colored signals. Different colors intuitively indicate if you are speaking too shrill, soft or appropriately for the user. I love the way technology is woven into an everyday object, so that the lady using the device is comfortable wearing the aid. SoundsGood is a 2011 reddot design concept winning entry.

Fully Precious Beans are ambient solar-powered light balls, intended to be a playful fun accessory to your interiors. For most part of 2011, I focused on serious designs, ones with a purpose in life. However I think 2012 is the year to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures in life…a time to have fun with green glow balls that enjoy sunlight as much as I do! This company hasn’t been blogged yet, in fact they just released their line 3 days ago! I was so pleasantly surprised to come across this fabulous new brand because they are not only beautiful and on trend but these talented Icelandic designers live in nearby Berlin! Small world! Tinna and her partner Ingvir head up Dottir & Sonur , a multidisciplinary design firm specializing in products for the home. This is very hot off the press so enjoy this premiere peek! Ingvi and Tinna met nearly 8 years ago and have collaborated on lots of projects, experimenting with everything from corporate identity to web design and now product design. Ingvi is a web developer and designer and Tinna has a masters in packaging design and they live in Berlin with their little ones, Hjalmar and Solveig. I am in love with the lightlace shown above, it’s amazing! I also like that they’ve got a little origami-inspiration action going on as this is a growing trend in design motifs and I find origami just lovely and so fresh used in this way. Currently, their products are only available on their website or by contacting Tinna directly at: order AT dottirandsonur.com but they are looking for retailers to take them on so contact them if you have a shop and you’re interested! Spread the word about Dottir & Sonur, I’d love to see more of their work because I think they’re very talented!
