Commonly used disposable diapers are a huge sustainability problem in the United States. Even before they reach landfills, the energy and resources used in their production is very intensive. On top of that, the economic burden of disposable diapers on low income families is extremely high. The solution?

Yes it is. Remork Design Studio worked with Belgian Switch company Lithoss to come up with a series of unique switches for what normally is considered a trivial element in interior design. Ultimately they ended up with a frameless switch called the Piano. Clean, sober and simple. Hit the jump to see some of the other design projects.

Listen to designer Jean-michel Bonnemoy and he’ll have you believe traditional camera form factors were dictated by the need to hold a roll of film in the back. Now that we’re all digital, why are still maintaining that archaism? He maintains the new form factor should be a cylinder – ergonomically better for the hand. The D-CAN concept significantly reduces volume while still providing all the finite controls professional photographers are used to. Hit the jump for the “specs”

This handmade backdrop used at a wedding I found over at Green Wedding Shoes made my heart positively leap. This is stunning. I don’t know how it was made, I thought at first cupcake wrappers but I don’t see any ruffled edges so perhaps something else… Either way, I love it and here is the link to the site where I found it in case you want to research more… I’d normally do that for you but today I’m in a rush and cannot. Here is the link where I found these stunning images taken by Annie McElwain Photography . (images: annie mcelwain photography) Please note: daily news and quicklinks are excluded from the RSS feed

Hello my dear friends on the day of love! Here is a very sweet video that I thought you’d enjoy featuring the work of Nicole Licht , a talented in-house designer/artist over at Etsy in Brooklyn. This makes me happy to watch, I hope it does the same for you. By the way, say aloud Olive Juice while looking into a mirror. That’s how I feel about each one of you. xo, Holly Please note: daily news and quicklinks are excluded from the RSS feed.

Drawing inspiration from Brasa, we have here an exceptionally slim and innovative rear light for cycles. The design optimizes the use of Light Line Technology (LLT), where the technique and optics clearly offset the single string of lights from the rest of the body, giving the impression that a red line is floating in the air. An easily accessible switch and simple battery removal, make it very practical and efficient light. As the designer explains, “The LLT uses one LED only and the extra-wide shape of its light guide allows a great visibility on both corners, offering more visibility and safety for the user and other road users

I know I’m not the only one who’s paid the price for being lazy about hanging up my clothes! I have carelessly stretched out the necks of my shirts because I’d rather force a rigid hanger through the neck rather than come up the bottom. The Pinch hanger is a efficient and easy solution to my problem. Made of a flexible Polypropylene and Elastomer mix, the user only has to pinch the arms together and slide the hanger into place. Speed up the process while preserving your threads! Designer: Jaineel Shah – Yanko Design Timeless Designs – Explore wonderful concepts from around the world! Odorico Pordenone is a delightful caravan that expands its seams to accommodate you and your folks quite comfortably. For a person who is never intimidated by the size of the car that I am driving, a bulky trailer somehow manages to unnerve me. Looking into this idea’s perfect fusion of design, technological and architectural approach, I think this one has nailed it good. I recently discovered yet another Swedish decorating blog to swoon over, it’s called HEM and is authored by a lovely lady who decorates in mostly black and white and her name is Annaleena . Her home is so pretty and I love this collection of photos that she has snapped around her space, they make me feel peaceful. Though stunning to behold, I couldn’t live in a black and white home but I do admire them from afar and love the extreme discipline that it must take to not bring anything with color or much pattern into the home – the editing one must do to ensure things stay perfectly black and white would make me go a little bonkers. I still love this look though and feel absolutely clear and calm when I see spaces that are so graphic and yet so natural and soothing. I am so inspired and in love with Annaleena’s gorgeous home and the light she has filling each corner by day along with her classy, lovely decorating style
