Leaf Wireless Mouse scores big time on looks and has a decent enough direction as far as tech aspects go. The one thing that we do with our mouse the most is to move it around. Based on this, the designers have created a concept that uses its motion to self-power the mouse. It sounds like a whiff of air for now, but imagine if we could have a wireless mouse that did not tank up on so many batteries every month? Because I use it so much, I tend to replace my Magic Mouse battery every 7-8 days.

The Fayton, inspired by the natural (horse) and human (carriage) components of the phaeton horse-drawn buggy of the 19th century, is a project aimed at providing comfortable transportation with a minimal carbon footprint. The EV’s most noticeable features are its transparent body and large glass canopy that provides a 360 degree view outside. The sunroof is made of four glass pieces that, when open, fold back and resemble a horses mane. I really like the work of stylist Jenni Juurinen in Finland and find these two photos from her portfolio quite lovely, particularly the spoons dipped in neutral color paints and the gorgeous wallpaper… I found Jenni via Emmas inspirational pinboard …  Don’t you just love Emma’s eye? I do. She really curates such lovely pins and her love of white, clean spaces makes her a kindred spirit of mine for sure! Here are a few more from Jenni’s portfolio – I think the pendant lights with the wooden beads are amazing and wonder who makes them. Such a clever idea! I’m also crazy about charcoal gray walls at the moment so these rooms make me happy… And speaking of Finland, did you know that my book is now available in Finnish?! I know, right

Have you noticed that interior swings, particularly popular in loft spaces, seem to be catching on more and more? You will even spot a few swings in my book, purposely put there because I thought they were fun though admittedly quirky and unconventional. When I got a press release this morning from Svvving , I just had to show you their, “Exceptional interior swings for adults” to get your honest opinion. So here’s what I’m referring to… From Svvving, “Ideal for large residential areas and lofts interiors spaces, this beautiful unusual object used alone or in pairs, can also find its place in the living room, the chamber, the bathroom, the office, the reception, the waiting room, the lobby of a hotel or coffee lounge, for everyday small pleasures.” And a little swing music to get you in the mood – though an entirely different swing altogether! But fun still! SO! Interior Swings – hot or not?

As intuitive as touchscreen tablets maybe, I think there are certain situations where you wish you could add on the keyboard for a more comfortable laptop experience. PC Digital Skin addresses this need in a very clever way. It is the combination of a tablet, a mobile phone and a lizard-skin cover, which doubles up as a Bluetooth keyboard. All three used together, give you the perfect laptop experience and yet retain their individuality. The trinity sync via Bluetooth and the natural texture of lizard skin conceal the keyboard seamlessly.

Clutch your pearls because I’m about to say something amazing – nanoparticles! Yes these tiny, near invisible objects can revolutionize the bio medical, optical and electronic fields so designer Ilshat Garipov put pen to paper and came up with the Smartphone Booklet –  a disposable phone as thin as a cardboard made possible by switching from traditional silicon to nanoparticles. The Booklet unfolds like a pamphlet with each side representing a commonly used application or function. Manufacturers can cut it to any size and once it’s worn out, just recycle it.

Not a Pamphlet, It’s a Smartphone

I’m always seeking out fresh ways to be more creative at home, especially when it comes to decorating. I also love to browse for ideas that I can share on decor8 that are inspirational on some level. You never know when you may see something and have that light bulb moment, right? We all need inspiration but often I find that this inspiration gets dropped into a folder never to be found again
